The college offers a great deal to the community and surrounding area. There is an active continuing education center for non-credit courses ranging from cooking classes to tai chi, bicycle repair, music lessons and the North Georgia Chamber Symphony. The art department has many different programs throughout the year with student productions, faculty musical recitals and art exhibits. Last year the Buddhist Monks performed and it was very interesting and enlightning. Best of all most events are free to the public. Call 706-864-1423 for the latest schedule.
There is also an environmental leadership section at the university that sponsored the showing of Al Gore's, "An Inconvenient Truth".
The college also has a Gay/Straight Alliance Organization. For information visit Alliance.
The founders of the Call to Duty Tour that is raising awareness for the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy towards gays in the military attend the university. For information on their progressive and much needed program visit Call to Duty.
