Dahlonega was named as one of the best hideaways in the 50 Best Places to Live article in Mens Journal Magazine as reported in the Denver Post newspaper. Excerpt below.
"In the "Best Hideaways" category - defined as an "outdoorsman's paradise" with practical living - the mountain town of Basalt made the top 10.
With a population of 3,000, Basalt's proximity to Aspen and idyllic setting caught the magazine's eye. "Basalt is the kind of place where people move to change their lives - and to make alpine sports a primary part of them," said the Journal. "It's like getting Aspen at half the price and with none of the attitude."
Others in the hideaway category included Fernandina Beach, FL; Truckee, CA; Dahlonega, GA; Ojai, CA; Truth or Consequences, NM; and Mount Gretna, PA. "
